Overview
PostScript (Type 1) fonts were Adobe's professional font format introduced in 1984. They use cubic Bézier curves to define glyph outlines, offering precise control for high-quality typography.
PostScript fonts dominated professional publishing and printing for decades before being largely superseded by OpenType. However, many classic typefaces are still available in PostScript format, and the technology lives on within OpenType's CFF (Compact Font Format) variant.
