Overview
PostScript Type 3 fonts are user-defined fonts in the PostScript language. Unlike Type 1 fonts which use predefined outline operators, Type 3 allows arbitrary PostScript code to render glyphs, enabling features like color, gradients, and embedded bitmaps.
Type 3 fonts were rarely used in professional typography due to lack of hinting and larger file sizes. They're primarily of historical interest today.
